Mentoplasty (chin surgery)


The chin is one of the major reference elements in the aesthetic study of the face. The ideal chin should be positioned within some aesthetic limits, compounding harmonically with the other parts of the face, such as the nose, the eyes, the mouth, etc.
The chin may be projecting or receding in relation to its ideal position. In both cases the surgical correction is possible. The most common form of mentoplasty is designed to correct the receding chin (backwards position), by inserting a silicon prosthesis or any other available device belonging to the surgical armamentarium.
