Rhinoplasty (Nose surgery)
Preoperative Recommendations:
1) Please notify the surgeon up to two days before surgery in case of flu, common cold, running nose or any other symptoms affecting the mouth, the nose or the throat.
2) Present for admission at the scheduled hospital, on the scheduled time.
3) If you are hospitalized on the same day of the surgery, please arrive at the hospital in complete fasting (8 hours period).
4) Avoid alcoholic beverages or copious meals on the day before surgery.
5) Avoid smoking for at least 15 days before surgery.
6) Avoid any medication containing acetylsalicylic acid (i.e. aspirin) or any medication with anticoagulant effect, for at least 15 days before surgery.
Postoperative Recommendations:
1) Avoid exposure to sunlight, wind or cold weather in the first month.
2) Please change the external dressing as often as necessary.
3) Special care with the plaster: do not traumatize the dressing, avoid humidity and fight the temptation to "remove it to check on the nose shape."
4) Follow medical prescription.
5) Please return to the clinic for dressings, on the scheduled dates.
6) Do not worry about obstructed nostrils. Wait for the nose packing to be removed
(if you have one).
7) Avoid exposing to the sun on the beach for a period of 90 to 180 days. However, you may expose to occasional sunlight on the street, from the 30th day on.
8) Do not use glasses until you are allowed to.
9) Do not worry about the shape of your nose in the intermediate phases (it will be swollen).
10) Please bring your questions to the doctor. Try not to be influenced by your friends opinions in this initial phase.
